Our environmental scan encompassed publicly available COVID-19 PtDAs on the internet. Data was independently sought and extracted by two reviewers. Our analysis calculated the median International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS) scores and the proportion scoring above 70% on the Patient Education Materials Information Tool (PEMAT), measuring clarity and the ability to act.
A review of 876 resources yielded the discovery of 12 that were identified as PtDAs. The COVID-19 vaccination series initiation (n=9), location for elderly care (n=2), and social distancing measures (n=1) were the core of the decisions made. Written materials comprised all 12 PtDAs, with two additionally incorporating accompanying videos. The IPDAS score, with a median of 4 out of 6 items, minimizing the risk of biased decisions, had an interquartile range of 1 and a range of 2 to 4. A key strategy in preventing cervical cancer involves attending colposcopy following abnormal cervical cancer screening. Through a qualitative lens, this study investigated patients' understanding of screening results, their experiences navigating the process before the colposcopy, and the colposcopy procedure.
From two urban practices part of an academic healthcare system, we recruited women scheduled for colposcopy procedures. Cardiac Oncology Individual interviews (N=15) with participants, following their colposcopy appointments, sought to understand their cervical cancer screening histories, the outcomes of those screenings, and their perspectives on the colposcopy procedure. The Atlas.ti software was employed by a team to thoroughly analyze and summarize interview data, including the coding of transcripts.
We discovered that the majority of women surveyed reported confusion surrounding their screening results, highlighting a notable lack of familiarity with colposcopy before referral, and experiencing significant anxiety during the period between result notification and their colposcopy procedure. A common experience for women online was to locate information that wasn't just inaccurate, but also depicted overly dramatic worst-case outcomes and provided only general explanations that did nothing to relieve their uncertainty.
With a limited comprehension of cervical cancer risk, women frequently experienced anxiety while researching information and awaiting colposcopy. Explaining cervical precancer and colposcopy to patients, providing personalized interpretations of their unusual screening test results and potential courses of action, and supporting women's emotional well-being can help ease uncertainty while anticipating follow-up appointments.

During the spring of 2021, a three-month cross-sectional survey was carried out on patients attending a U.S. academic gynecology clinic. Among patients of varying age demographics, this study compared the extent to which social media was utilized to access information on women's health.
Social media is employed by a considerable number of respondents (570%) for acquiring knowledge on women's health. Further, a large proportion (924%) feel that women's health information ought to be posted on social media, and 585% find the information beneficial in their health decision-making, irrespective of their age. The progression of age among patients correlated with an increase in their active quest for women's health information, in contrast to the passive reception of information through feeds (p=0.0024 overall). This trend was particularly evident in the use of social media for health information, especially concerning doctor appointments (p=0.0023 overall), while there was a reduced tendency towards trusting social media influencers for such information (p=0.0030 overall).
